Having won their division in last years tournament, the Lady Flames were automatically moved up to play in the Premier Division against RDYSL Division 1 teams consisting of Irondequoit, Brighton, Pittsford, Fairport and Victor/Farmington. Livonia was shut out in their opening game against Irondequoit , 5-0. The Flames bounced back in their next game to shutout Brighton , 1-0. The games lone goal was scored on a PK by Erica Eck. The goal was set up nicely on a pass from halfback Jessica Lambert to forward Claire Andersen who dribbled away from her defender for a break away. Andersen was fouled from behind to set up the PK. Goalie Emily Argentieri recorded 16 saves to earn the shutout. In the next game, Livonia tied Pittsford 1-1. The tie prevented Livonia from advancing to the championship game. The Flames had taken a 1-0 lead in the 2nd half on right winger Julia Roney’s goal. Assisting on the goal was Hannah Lutz and Lambert. Due to a controversial referee’s ruling, Pittsford was awarded a direct kick late in the game which resulted in Pittsford tying the game up. Livonia applied superb offensive pressure with shots on goal but couldn’t score and had to settle for the tie. The Flames ended up the tournament with a 1-1-1 record. The Flames open up league play in the RDYSL next week. |
